4th quarter Ref. decisions should be reviewable

Such a huge call as the "roughing" penalty should be reviewable. It is as important as any INT or fumble etc...With such a short season and the value of a single win they should allow the red flag to be used on 4th quarter penalty calls. TO's are more important then and coaches would not abuse such a rule. The Chargers and now Ravens have been cost victories by horrible last minutes calls. There has to be a way to curtail the poor officiating in the final minutes.

The opinions posted here are those of the administrator of this blog and his loyal readers. They are in no way official comments from the team, and should not be misconstued as such, even though he thinks he could do just as well or even a better job!

What I have a problem with...

…is that the ref’s explanation is that he blew the whistle and they tried to stop the play, which of course would have stopped Suggs’ rush and questionable hit, right? Funny how none of the players oin either team stopped playing and no one in the stands heard anything either. Usually, you have flags all over the place and all the refs (who heard the whistle as well?) running towards the line of scrimage to stop the play from continuing. None of tis happened and this is where we were allowed to continue the play and be penalized. My only issue is that the whistle was obviously not blown or loud enough for the players, coaches, fans and even the other refs to hear. that alone allowed Suggs to continue towards the QB. the so called hit was a judgement call and those things happen. the way it was allowed to happen is the issue. After football has been around for a hundred years, perhaps they need to go a little more high tech than to continue using a little stupid whistle to regulate play. What a novel idea, huh!?

I agree...

Rexx, you have to admit that the suggs roughing penalty was indeed one of the worst calls we have seen in a close game situation. The fast the suggs was being blocked and just trying to block the pass while still trying to get off his block, is terrible. In no way was collins in any harm of suggs coming off that block and still trying to tackle him. His arm was in motion to make a deflection of the football and it came down on the mans shoulder pads. BS! And yes, we did score off of those two finnegan penalties, but THOSE WERE CLEAR CUT!!! you cannot throw a player to the ground nor can u start swingin at the opposing team. The Ravens do indeed need to control themselves better, but that suggs roughing penalty did factor in very heavily to us becoming a .500 team at this point in the season. In the fourth, DO NOT make calls unless there is a clear cut view of harm being done in that situation. We got them in a 4th and long situation, they punt it to us, slam mcclain up the middle a few times, and we come away 3-1 and handing the titans their first loss.

Unreal statement by Harbaugh on Anita Marks

He said they practice the 2 minute every day…Are you kidding me. They waisted 35 seconds without running a play before half. That time out needed to be called ! Our guys were tangled up downfield and by the time everyone was at the line we burned over 15 seconds and then the confusion caused a false start..10 second run off.. on comes Stover. They practice that crap. Harbuagh should just say he blew it. We expect that of the refs at least he should come clean. He BLEW IT !

Poll question-

Keeping your heart out of it- Are we on the edge of winning or are we on the edge of losing? My glass is exactly half full with D. But I’m tired of being shorted at these drink prices. Maybe 2 more weeks of Flacco with the D slumping from the burden. Then, a Return To Troy that will reignite the D and town? Obviously, our best hope is to win the 2 team race in the division instead of joining ranks in the wild card race. Pitt. has to hit a skid soon. They are beat up pretty bad and can’t keep this up..can they? And I thought Del Rio liked B-more.

Harbaugh is a liability

I like the man and the passion he brings. But so far, he has made mistakes that I can’t classify as rookie mistakes. They are poor judgement and coaching decisions, and it looks like in the heat of the moment, he freezes. This will hurt us as much as Billick’s horrible game management did. Harbaugh says with 14 seconds on the clock, it was a no brainer to kick the FG at the end of the half. What about the prior 30 seconds that ran off instead of taking the TO, idiot!!!???

In 30 seconds I could have:

In 30 seconds I could have: run 3 “down and outs”-scored or kicked the field goal. I could have run it, spiked it, sideline passed and kicked the field goal. I could have gone deep twice for the TD and sideline pass if they failed, kicked the field goal. I could have passed 4 times forgoing the crappy field goal…….And Harbaugh says, “it was a no brainer to kick the field goal with 14 left”. He’s right- It took a no brainer.

AND what’s with players not getting off the field because of injury with under 2 minutes. If I were his teammates, I would pick his ass up and run him to the sideline. If it’s not his spine drag him off. Old school guys hate that layin’ on the field holding their toe crap.

Even worse...

…is when they kneel down because of a hurt shoulder or hand!

then why are you on here complaining about it?

Raven,
you should change your name to complainer! You come on here and complain about everything, if you can run these play ‘s then why are you on here bitching about it? why aren’t you on the field? Dude we got to stand behind and support the team. I get as pissed as the next guy but I spend my money and go because I love football.

I alway will bleed Raven purple...

…and did so in those early lean years. Now, I’m spoiled and want them to win every game. I know it’s unrealistic, but they still should win at least SOME of the close ones, but doesn’t it always seem we lose ALL of the close ones!?

Damn, you found me Section117

let me welcome you to the blog but everyone please take 117 with a grain of salt. He’s more of a homer than Fred Manfra. If you don’t complain (point out DECADE long shortcomings) you’ll again join the heards of sheep that followed BS Billick.

your right raven

Raven,
Let me guess you were the first person on the Billick bandwagon when we won the superbowl and then because we didn’t win the next year you thought he should be fired.
Well you do have the rite to complain but there is more to life that is my point. I pay for my season tickets and have the rite to complain but choose not too. I am a guy that likes to drink beer and have good time that loves football.

Section:

I too pay for my season tickets, drink a few too many, cheer and complain way too loudly. That’s my right! However, I will NEVER, EVER boo my home team, no matter how pissed I am. At the same time, I will always and totally recommend everyone to speak their mind, even ‘raven’ as his comments while strong are usually pretty much dead on. I urge you to focus on the issues, not the personalities. that’s my job as Administrator of the site, and ‘raven’ has gotten in line along w/ everyone else. Thanks for visiting and feel free to join in on the topics, or even post one yourself.

Actually 117..

I knew Billick was a flop when we couldn’t score for 5 straight games and maybe before….Super Bowl or not, I knew that was something that just doesn’t happpen to even average coaches. I never stepped near that bandwagon. The D took us through that season. Goofy/off the wall scoring chances and not play design took us throught the playoffs. A ball landing in Sharp’s hands after bouncing off a player, blocked FG return by Washington, Sharp going 95 yards on a slant, Goose crushing Gannon etc. I don’t think we scored on a single play that was designed a specific way throughout the SB playoffs.

Another reason I didn’t come close to the bandwagon, Billick dumps Dilfer brings in a heartless guy who wanted to retire in Grbac then hires the nut case we beat the soundest- Fassell. A guy who was run off by his own team. What Billick had was a young D on the upswing. Unfortunately for Harbaugh but fortunately for fans, our new coach won’t be able to ride the D wagon because it’s not the same. He will be exposed much faster than Billick. Though, I could have warned you about Brian 9 years ago.

I will!!!!

I will try to focus on issues but sometimes it is just fun to think of how upset people get over something they cannot control and I just like to have fun with it. Raven is pretty damn funny and very passionate about how bad the team is. If we all ever meet I would sit back throw a few down and just laugh about it that’s fr sure. To you Raven I do appologize for keeping you going and I am sure it will not be the last time remeber it is all in good fun.

I was a big Billick fan

He was a great motivator and the players respected him, at least during the Super Bowl run. He defended his players and they responded. Dumping Dilfer for Grbac was a GREAT move at the time. Grbac was coming off a Pro Bowl year and Dilfer was irrelevant to the Ravens offense. Remember, the next year Jamal Lewis was lost at the beginning of the season and we still made the playoffs. No way Dilfer’s arm could have gotten us there, while Grbac’s did. No one could predict he’s turn into a sissy, cry after games, take his ball and run home to mommy.

Irrelevant O

Everything was “irrelevant” in Billicks offense..but the key was Dilfer understood that it was irrelevant and was working for the D- the only way. Billick’s O was so irrelevent he brought in 15 more irrelevant QB’s to play with it. They just forgot which side of the team they were playing for and made it even more irrelevant.
